The Voice
“It's just a normal day for the Megabuddies. A name known in every household. Just in case you're one of the people who don't keep up with the news, they’re an elite squad of heroes composed of crazy awesome people. Heroes without superpowers, heroes without masks, just normal average people who have dedicated their lives to being awesome. They've saved the world from the Wal-Mart corporation.
Twice. They even served their country bravely, and willingly, back in World War 3 against a revived Hitler's forces. You've probably heard of them. They've got the fame and you know their name. Oh hey, look, there’s some now! Let's move in for a closer look.”
Mega was chilling outside of the Megabuddies base and walking behind Geo, gnawing on a juicy red apple as he carried a two hundred pound of bag of cat kibble that he had been sent to the market for on his shoulders. Naturally, because the bag was so heavy, Geo was sweating like crazy, red faced, moving at a very slow pace and in much much pain. He was walking awkwardly, kind of staggering forward and moving like an injured small bird that had fallen out of its nest. The bag of kibble meshed against the top of his head and back.
“Oh… My back… I think I’ve dislocated something… Possibly everything… Can I just set this down here?” Geo whimpered in between tears.
“Hmm…” Mega thought the proposition over a bit in her head before settling on an answer. She bit into the apple and sweet juice flew out into the air. “Nah, you’re doing great, just keep moving and you won’t have a stroke, Geppy.”
“This is Mega. She’s just relaxing right now as her faithful followers perform the daily tasks they’ve been assigned by her.”
“Who said that!?” cooed the girl confused. Her head swiveled around everywhere like a paranoid prairie dog. She finally looked up at the sky.
“I did. Just ignore me.” said the voice.
“Hello? Who are you!? Why can’t I see you?” Mega demanded to know. The voice ignored her and continued narrating her, much to her displeasure.
“Is someone there?” groaned Geo, his voice cracking from the strain he was under. “Can they help me with the bag?” asked Geo. He couldn’t see who Mega was talking to. He was far too hunched over, and the only thing that he could see was the grass at his feet and the dark shadow cast by the heavy bag of cat food.
“Just keep walking. Maybe he’ll go away.” said Mega. “Now come on, you’ve been walking to the front door for twenty minutes. Resting time is over.”
“Why is she chilling? Well, Mega is the leader of this clan of joyous idiots.” said the voice.
“Do I
look happy right now?” complained Geo as he trudged along. He suddenly fell over with the two hundred bag of kibble on top of him. Geo said nothing. Maybe he was dead.
“Leaders, being naturally non-expendable regardless of their ability to lead, are super duper important. They must be constantly free to jump up and lead their friends whenever a conflict arises. Speaking of the subordinates, let’s see what the other guys are up to!”
“I’m the leader and you have to do what I say. What do you not understand? I still can’t see you…” said Mega. “Show yourself. You’re trespassing on our base.” She tapped her foot rapidly on the ground and crossed her arms pouting.
The voice continued to ignore her, instead leaving to narrate elsewhere.
