I'm curious. Does this scale enemy levels as poorly as Oblivion did? (alternately I'm remembering Oblivion wrong, but whatever). Is properly leveling up actually worth it now?

Meh, not into complicated fantasy RPG's much. Skyward Sword will suffice.

yeah leveling has been greatly improved. there is no longer a level 30 or something cap you are free to select whatever you want throughout the whole game you don't have to stick with the 7 classes you start with at the beginning of the game. And the enemies are random per each area. they don't level up with you (or so I heard.)

I'm raising everything evenly. Except I just found out my room at the College has a chest so I don't need a house right away.

What why? Why would you raise something like light and havet armor or one or two handed attacks evenly? It would be efficient to do one or the other. However none of that matters because my 2 wielding assassin is badass.

I mean Health, magicka, and stamina. I'm leveling everything up but I'll only be spending perk points in specific areas.

Does that spell that makes people go berserk and attack people exist in Skyrim? Cause if memory serves, Oblivion had it so that you could frenzy the people in houses, causing them to run out and punch things, letting you loot their stuff. Then you could go outside and watch chaos ensue as you cast the spell on more people until everyone in sight is either running away or beating other people up. Also, are there still increasingly repetitive discussions on mudcrabs and the horribleness of mudcrabs?

They are less repetitive in the sense that they look different. The "go to dungeon for an hour and grab the item at the end" formula is still very prevalent but the dungeons fell less boring IMO.

I agree with john about it being more awesome. And I haven't seen to much mudcrabs. its a nice change of pace.

So having started playing this as a sneaky cat person whose specialties were generally not very useful in combat (turns out pickpocketing is not at all useful when dealing with hordes of the undead), I went into Bleak Falls Barrow to get the Dragonstone for douche face wizard man, not really knowing much of what I was doing because this game seems much harder to break with uberpowerful crap than Oblivion. It went less than awesomely as I discovered that sneaking is useless when fricking Draugr keep popping out of their graves to kill me and I should probably have a shield equipped and oh no I'm dead never mind. It probably doesn't help that I'm kind of jumpy, especially in these immersive type games, so every time evil skeleton things got the jump on me (which was often cause I was just running through the dungeon while trying not to crap my pants cause the last Draugr surprised me, leading to me not noticing when one of them rose from their grave) I was not very prepared and may have panicked a bit while desperately trying to burn its face off. This is when I decided being a thief is not profitable in the short run and decided to make a new character who specialized in Conjuration. One thing led to another and I ended up ignoring the main quest completely while I went to Winterhold and managed to get into the Mage college. It was pretty okay cause I ended up getting enough gold to purchase the Conjure Flame Atronach spell and the Bound Sword spell that apparently does more damage than any non-enchanted weapon I had easy access to. So I basically ignored anything main story-related till I was like level 17 and had enough Magicka and Conjuration perks to basically always have a Flame Atronach summoned to burn everything alive until I can find and purchase better summons that rape everything even better. Somehow, I managed to completely ignore the whole world-saving thing for a good twenty levels, several hours in the game. So yeah, I love this.

so how is skyrim? I never played an elder scrolls game, and this game looks really buggy (with dragons flying backwards and everything), but also a bit funny too.
